Developing a Girl Scout Leader
The focus of this training includes Safety Wise and Council Guide, Girl/Adult Partnership, troop calendar and planning a troop meeting. *Welcome to Girl Scouting Orientation, given by your Field Executive, is required prior to taking this course. Developing a Girl Scout Leader meets the requirements of both BLT and Age Level combined.
Basic Leadership Training (BLT)
Basic Leadership Training – May be taken during a scheduled training, as an Independent Study, or online through GSUSA. This course covers the mission and goals of our organization, safety standards, Girl/Adult Partnership, money management and other valuable information that will help you feel more secure as a leader. *Welcome to Girl Scouting Orientation, given by your Field Executive, is required prior to taking this course. Developing a Girl Scout Leader meets the requirements of both BLT and Age Level combined.
Age Level: Daisy, Brownie, Junior or Advisor Training – May be taken during a scheduled training or as an Independent Study. This course covers behavior management, parts of a meeting, awards and how to plan a meeting. *Welcome to Girl Scouting Orientation, given by your Field Executive, is required prior to taking this course. Developing a Girl Scout Leader meets the requirements of both BLT and Age Level combined.
A First Aid/CPR trained person is required to participate in certain activities (See Council Guide). This may be taken through the council, American Heart Association or Red Cross. In order to qualify, a person could also be a paramedic, registered nurse or physician whose certification is current. This position does not have to be held by the troop leaders.
Outdoor Training (Troop Camper I and II)
In order for a troop to go camping, the troop must have a troop camper. This is someone who has gone through at least Troop Camper I. This position does not have to be held by the troop leaders. You can register for Troop Camper Training or you can bring an additional adult to go through Troop Camper Training! *Welcome to Girl Scouting Orientation, given by your Field Executive, is required prior to taking this course. Bronze, Silver and Gold Award Training
This training course is open to girls and adults interested in learning more about the requirements to earn this award. A confirmation letter will be sent prior to the course with a list of what will be needed.
