^Panwapa

Through a relationship with Sesame Workshop, GSUSA is pleased to introduce you to Panwapa, a Worldwide Kids initiative designed to engage and inspire 4-to-7-year-olds to become global citizens. Panwapa, which means “here on this earth,” is an imaginary place inhabited by a new cast of Muppet characters where children from all over the world can explore and grow.
The secure Panwapa website (www.panwapa.com) offers interactive games and activities to help children learn about the world and how they can change it-a goal completely in alignment with what we do here in Global Girl Scouting.
GSUSA encourage you to make the kits available to Brownie and Daisy leaders.  Each includes a DVD, a map of the world featuring five languages, and an activity-filled magazine. The kits are free. For copies, please contact Karen Scheuerer at (212)-852-6567 or email globalgirlscouting@girlscouts.org

*^Girl Scout Museum of Knoxville

The GS Museum of Tanasi Council has pictures of their collection on Art Museum Touring.com (http://www.artmuseumtouring.com). They have over 500 vintage uniforms which girls and troops can try on by appointment. They have uniforms and memorabilia from around the world.

We have a long family tradition with Girl Scouts. My wife was in GS and a GS leader, my daughter got her Gold Award and my mother was a camp counselor in the 30's. My aunt, Fay (Gunn) Ricketts, in 1929, was one of the first two Golden Eaglets from Mississippi. She made Girl Scouts her career working in the national office in NYC until she retired. We have a lot of her GS memorabilia including her sash and Golden Eaglet. We, also, have several photographs. We are trying to identify the people in the pictures, one from a 1929 national meeting in Slidell, LA, that National didn't even have. GS history should be preserved for future generations.

Art Museum Touring.com has a variety of museums including Art museums, history museums, palaeontological museum, and historic homes. The site is laid out in a coffee table art book fashion. It is a good educational resource tool. Girls can "page" through the site to see sample photos from the collections and exhibitions of the participating museums. The site is a family friendly site. Each museum's page is updated as they have new exhibitions.
We will be notifying you anytime the Knoxville GS museum sends us new pictures.
You can subscribe to receive email updates for all the participating museums, and our email newsletter.
